Ever notice that in addition to a small group of colors that show up everywhere for a year, there’s one particular color that stands out the most? And you see it EVERYWHERE~not just in fashion, but in art, popular culture, packaging, interior design, home décor, technology, etc. as well? And then, the following year it’s a whole new group of colors with one totally different one taking center stage? That's called PANTONE, folks, and it’s the global authority on color.

And yes, there really is a meeting held in a secret European city every year hosted by Pantone to determine what the color of the year will be! While it might seem like we’re being manipulated by a clandestine society of puppeteers controlling our tastes, desires and purchasing decisions, it’s claimed that the color is selected based on the current cultural zeitgeist. They actually meet 9 months earlier and look to the world and cull from all to create what becomes the “Color of the Year.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantone

When I think about 2019’s Color of the Year being LIVING CORAL, I can’t help but think of our DYING REEFS. So…maybe that’s part of the point? If the color of the year is truly created out of what’s in the collective consciousness, then it kinda makes sense, doesn’t it? This color is warm and alive, with a heart centering pinkish tone, inviting one to consider what is MY connection to MY earth and all of its manifestations? What do I want to embody, to support, to reflect on, to put my vital energy towards?
